How do I connect my agent?+
Open Agent in the desktop app and expand Connection & instructions. Connect an MCP-compatible agent such as Codex or Claude Code, then give it a goal. Your agent handles the research and workflow; Nextstep keeps its collections, reported progress and change history available to inspect. Set up recurring work in your agent if you want regular updates.
Can I review changes before they are saved?+
Yes. Let your agent save directly, or turn on Require review in Settings to approve or reject changes before they are saved. Review is optional and off by default.
Where does my data live?+
On your computer by default, with JSON exports available. You can also connect to your own private server. Your agent provider may process the context it reads. Privacy details ↗ · Self-hosting guide ↗
